Devils Vs. Maple Leafs Final Score: Mark Fayne Scores Game Winner In Overtime

Stay connected for news and updates

It was a rough night for Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, who let in four goals off of 32 shots faced against the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night. None was bigger than his handling of a Mark Fayne slapshot from the blueline that just barely sneaked in glove-side to clinch Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.

Petr Sykora scored, then added an assist on David Clarkson's goal later in the first period to put New Jersey up 2-0. The Leafs scored two straight to tie the game before Alexei Ponikarovsky put the Devils back up by one. The Devils were headed for victory going into the final minute of regulation, but Phil Kessel netted the equalizing goal off a deflection with just 44 seconds left in the third.

The win was the Devils' fourth straight, elevating them one point ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers for fourth place in the Eastern Conference. New Jersey is at home for the rest of the week, hosting the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
