The New Jersey Devils have recalled Adam Henrique from the team's AHL affiliate, and the center is on his way to Pittsburgh to join the team, according to a report from Katie Strang.
With centers Travis Zajac and Jacob Josefson injured, the Devils needed more depth at the position. Henrique played two games with New Jersey before being assigned to the Albany Devils, scoring zero points and tallying a -1.
He was assigned to Albany on Oct. 14 and played three games there, notching one assist. At the time the Devils assigned Henrique, the team said the plan was for him to return shortly.
Josefson's injury hastened that return. The center broke his collar bone during Friday nights shootout loss to San Jose and could reportedly miss several months. Fellow center Zajac underwent Achilles surgery in August and is expected to miss several more weeks.
