Martin Brodeur Injury Update: Devils Goaltender 'Day-To-Day' After Hurting Shoulder

New Jersey was looking for a win against Los Angeles on Thursday night (Oct. 13, 2011) in Newark, but not at the expense of losing Goaltender Martin Brodeur.

The 39-year-old Devil is listed as "day-to-day" following a first period flop on his extended shoulder, but is expected to travel to Nashville to take on the Predators this weekend.

Brodeur elaborates (via Devils.nhl.com):

"I tweaked my shoulder when I dove for that shot and kind of lost a little strength in it. I just didn’t feel comfortable continuing. It should be fine. I think it’s a matter of a couple days just to rest it and try to get the swelling down. I’ve tweaked it before, just a little tougher, this one. But it should be OK. They tried to test it a little bit and just with the weight of the stick it was a little tough to move around at this point right now, but it’ll be fine. I’m planning on going unless tomorrow morning I get up and I really can’t move my arm. I think I’ve done it in the past and it should be fine."

Johan Hedberg would take over in the second period and keep it a scoreless game en route to the Devils 2-1 win over the Kings in the shootout. New Jersey improves to 2-1 on the season while Los Angeles falls to 1-1-1 in defeat.
