New York watched Jeremy Hefner have one of his worst outings this year, giving up five runs in just 2.2 innings pitched on eight hits and a pair of free passes. Hefner couldn't get anything going after the first, allowing a run in the second and four in the third.
On the other side, Kris Medlen continued his sterling campaign with another win. Medlen is now 8-1 on the season after throwing six solid innings while surrendering only two runs.
Offensively, Lucas Duda and David Wright each had two hits apiece. Duda had an RBI single in the fourth, scoring Wright before smoking an RBI double to right in the eighth, bringing in Wright once more.
On Sunday, the Mets will attempt to salvage a game against Atlanta with Chris Young on the mound.
