FedEx Cup 2012 Standings: Rory McIlroy On Top After Deutsche Bank Win

Rory McIlroy is no longer just the top-ranked golfer in the world, he's also climbed to the top of the FedEx Cup standings with his win in the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The 23-year-old Northern Ireland native finished the regular season in third place in the standings after a win in the PGA Championship, but his win in Massachusetts gives him 4,799 points, putting him 1,331 points ahead of Nick Watney. Tiger Woods -- whose third-place finish allowed him to become the first golfer ever to earn $100 million on tour -- stayed in third in the Cup standings, while second-place Louis Oosthuizen jumped from 21st to fifth. Phil Mickelson's fourth-place finish has him in striking distance in ninth place.

However, the actual fight for the Cup is still wide open, as each of the final playoff events are worth 2,500 points for the winner.

Fairfield, Conn., native J.J. Henry's 60th place finish drops him from 73rd to 80th in the playoff standings, meaning he won't qualify for the next round, the BMW Championship, for which only the top 70 golfers qualify.
