Jets-49ers final score: Jets blown out, 34-0

The Jets suffered their second-worst defeat under coach Rex Ryan.

Just when it looked like it could not get any worse for the New York Jets, it did. A week after losing Darrelle Revis for the season with a torn ACL, Santonio Holmes suffered a severe leg injury and the Jets were dominated Sunday by the San Francisco 49ers in every facet, losing, 34-0.

The Jets committed four turnovers (one interception, three fumbles), including Holmes’ fumble on the play he was injured that Carlos Rodgers returned for a touchdown.

Mark Sanchez heard boos throughout the game and they were deserved. The embattled signal caller completed 12-of-29 for 103 yards and an interception. Tim Tebow was not involved in the offense yet again, rushing twice for no yards while completing one pass to Dedrick Epps that he subsequently fumbled.

On defense, the Jets did not miss Revis in the secondary as Alex Smith threw for only 143 yards. But the defense as a unit allowed the 49ers to rush for 245 yards on 44 carries, an average of 5.6 yards per rush.

Conversely, the Jets had just 145 yards of total offense, including only 45 yards on the ground.

Next week, the Jets (2-2) host the undefeated Houston Texans, while the 49ers (3-1) are home to the Buffalo Bills.
