The Yankees will try to even their series against the Blue Jays on Friday, and hold off the Orioles in the AL East.
The Yankees will try to even up their four-game series north of the border on Friday night, with Hiroki Kuroda on the mound. Kuroda enters the game with a 14-11 record and 3.34 ERA, and it will be a crucial start with the Yanks holding just a one-game lead over the Orioles in the AL East. Kuroda has not pitched particularly well this month, giving up four runs in in three of four starts. He has a 5.25 ERA in two starts against the Jays this season.
John Farrell will counter with rookie Chad Jenkins, who will be making just his second career start on Friday night. Jenkins gave up just two hits in five innings in his first start last week against the Rays. He has a 4.24 ERA in 23.1 innings this season, but facing the Bronx Bombers will be a whole new task for Jenkins. The Yankees lineup was shut out by Brandon Morrow on Thursday, so they'll be looking to rough up the rookie early to even the series.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET and YES will have the broadcast.
