Brandt Snedeker took home the 2012 FedEx Cup with a victory in the Tour Championship.
Brandt Snedeker won the FedEx Cup -- and the $10 million purse that goes with it -- by taking the Tour Championship title on Sunday.
With only one event left in the FedEx Cup season, Snedeker sat in fifth place in the standings. Ahead of him were the best the sport has to offer: Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Nick Watney and Phil Mickelson. Those four sputtered, finishing in 10th, 8th, 28th and 15th in the 30-person field. Meanwhile, the point standings were such that any player in the top five would be guaranteed an overall FedEx Cup win by winning the event. Snedeker came through, winning by three strokes over Justin Rose, who climbed from 24th place to sixth with the finish.
Snedeker earned the season-long title as a result of his second tournament victory of the season and fourth of his career. He had finished third in the British Open.
