Brandt Snedeker shot a fantastic 6-under par for the third round of the Tour Championship, which vaulted him all the way to the top of the leaderboard.

Snedeker finished the third round at 8-under par for the tournament, which has him tied with Justin Rose for the lead entering the final round. Rose shot a 2-under par on Saturday.

Tour Championship 2012 Leaderboard: Jim Furyk Leads After Round 2

After taking over sole possession of first place during the second round, Jim Furyk will remain atop the leaderboard with a one stroke lead at -7 after the American dominated the second round of play.

A glance at his scorecard shows Furyk made seven birdies in his first 10 holes and nine overall in the second round, helping him shoot a 64 for the second. However, England's Justin Rose is in second place and only one stroke behind the lead.

Bubba Watson and Bo Van Pelt are also in the hunt as the pair currently find themselves tied for third place, two shots behind Furyk.

Like Furyk, Rory McIlroy climbed the leaderboard Friday and now in a three-way tie for seventh place. Tiger Woods struggled Friday, though, after playing very well in the first round. After scoring +3 on the day, Woods is now in a four-way tie for 12th place.

New York-born John Huh improved his position after the second round by shooting a 70, putting him at +4 in the tournament and 27th overall. Meanwhile, St. John's alumni Keegan Bradley's second-round score of 73 dropped him seven places in the tournament, putting him one spot ahead of Huh at 26th overall.

The Tour Championship 2012: Jim Furyk Surges Into First Place

With Friday action fully underway, Jim Furyk has pulled into sole possession of the Tour Championship lead.

Furyk has made five birdies in his first seven holes, moving him to six under par for the tournament. A quick look at his scorecard shows that he has only made threes so far.

He currently leads Matt Kuchar by one. Justin Rose and Bo Van Pelt trail by two strokes.

Tiger Woods bogeyed his first hole, and now trails Furyk by three. In Woods' last four Tour Championship appearances, he has won one, and finished second three times.

With each putt made or missed, the FedExCup standings shift. But as things currently stand, Rory McIlroy is in line to win the Cup and the $10 million prize.

McIlroy is currently two under par for the tournament, and four strokes behind Furyk.

2012 Tour Championship: Round 2 Update

Friday golf is underway at East Lake, where Nick Watney and John Huh were the first to hit the course.

Watney entered the tournament third in FedEx points, with a chance to take home the $10 million prize for the FedExCup winner. Given Watney's poor Thursday and continued struggles on Friday, this now seems out of reach. Watney is currently three over on Friday through four holes, which brings him to eight over par for the tournament.

New York native John Huh is even through four holes, and tied for second-to-last place.

Louis Oosthuizen just made a par on his first hole, remaining at even par for the tournament. Currently tied for 19th, the South African is just four strokes off the lead, currently held by Tiger Woods and Justin Rose.
