Jeremiah Kobena Injury: Syracuse Receiver To Miss Few Weeks With Upper Body Injury

Stay connected for news and updates

Syracuse sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Kobena will miss the next few weeks with an upper body injury that required surgery earlier in the week, the university's athletic department announced Wednesday. Kobena (6'0, 182 pounds) is currently third on the team in receiving yards (101), but his absence will mainly be felt on special teams where he serves on the Orange's main kicker returner.

This season, Kobena has averaged 19.3 yards per return and has the longest touchdown reception (55 yards) that came in SU's Week 1 loss, 42-41, to the Northwestern Wildcats.

For last week's contest against No. 2 USC Trojans, junior running back Prince-Tyson Gulley was listed as SU's No. 2 kick returner on the depth chart. Meanwhile, JUCO transfer Christopher Clark (5'11, 159) is probably going to fill in Kobena's roll as a wide out.

Over the next few weeks, the Orange host FCS opponent, the Stony Brook Seawolves, then they travel to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Sept. 22, before its first of two bye weeks.
