Yankees Roster Moves: 6 Called Up From Triple-A, Including Eduardo Nunez

The New York Yankees have called up Eduardo Nunez from Triple-A and the utility man is in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. Manager Joe Girardi put Nunez at DH for the second game of the weekend series that could pull Baltimore even in the AL East standings. Nunez was hitting .294 in 51 at-bats this season before being sent down on May 11. He scored seven runs and had five RBIs in 21 games with the Yankees.

With the calendar flipping to September, teams can now expand their rosters with widespread call-ups taking place this weekend across the majors. Five others were called up from Scranton in addition to Nunez, including pitchers Cory Wade, Adam Warren, and Justin Thomas. Veteran catcher Francisco Cervelli was also called up along with outfielder Chris Dickerson.

In another roster move, the Yankees jettisoned Ramiro Pena, designating the infielder for assignment. The expanded rosters will hopefully aid the Yankees down the stretch as they nurse a slew of injuries.
