Hakeem Nicks Injury Update: 'I Just Gotta Deal With The Pain'

Stay connected for news and updates

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will play in Week 1's showdown against the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, Sept. 5, when the Giants kickoff the NFL season.

Nicks, who broke his foot in the spring, has been taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and believes he simply has to grow accustomed to the pain.

Per Ian Rapoport:

"I think I just gotta deal with the pain, I don't think I'll adjust my game any," he said. "Whatever the scenario is, I'm just going to go out there and play hard. When I'm playing, it's out of sight, out of mind."

It's certainly good news for Giants fans that Nicks doesn't think he'll have to alter his game any.

Even though Nicks says he expects to play the entire game, he concedes that he needs to learn how to play with the injury.

"It's a situation where you just gotta get used to playing with it," Nicks said. "It's not going to feel great, I know that, but it's a matter of me having the desire and want-to get through it."

We'll see how Nicks plays against a much improved Dallas Cowboys secondary on Wednesday night.
