Dwight Howard Trade: Center Joins Lakers As Part Of 4-Team Trade

The Dwight Howard saga has finally come to an end following a four-team trade reported Thursday that will send the center to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Brooklyn Nets were once considered Howard's top suitor and were on the brink of a deal several times this offseason before negotiations fell through. The trade is expected to be formally announced Friday.

The deal also sends Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson to the Philadelphia 76ers, and Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets. The Orlando Magic receiver Moe Harkless and Nikola Vucevic from the Sixers, Al Harrington and Arron Afflalo from the Nuggets, and a protected first round pick from each of the three other teams involved in the trade.

Nets fans have reason to be a bit disappointed, but a happy Brook Lopez isn't a bad consolation prize and it's impossible to say that the front office didn't do everything in could. At least fans around the NBA can finally be rid of the drama that has dominated the sports news cycle for two years.

Of course, if Howard chooses not to sign a long-term contract with the Lakers the Dwightmare could start all over again next summer.
