Mets Vs. Marlins: New York Turns To R.A. Dickey To Avoid The Sweep

After a 13-0 drubbing on Wednesday night, the New York Mets have a chance to avoid being swept at home by the Miami Marlins. The two teams close out their mid-week series on Friday afternoon.

On the hill for New York is R.A. Dickey. The knuckleball sensation has been sharp in his last two outings. He picked up the loss in his last start, allowing two runs to the Padres, thanks in part to his team's inability to produce runs. He struck out nine and gave up just four hits in seven innings. The game before that, he beat the Diamondbacks with seven shutout innings. Dickey has five wins in a row against the Marlins with an ERA of just 0.82. A win on Thursday would be No. 15 for the season for the Cy Young contender.

While the Marlins' hitters may be in for a test, things will not be much easier for the Mets' bats. Miami starter Josh Johnson has an 8-1 record and a 2.59 ERA in 15 career starts against the Mets.

Jose Reyes, the former Met, enters the game riding a 26-game hit streak.

The game starts at 12:10 p.m. and can be seen on SNY.
