Team USA Women's Soccer: Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan Push U.S. Past Canada, 4-3, In Extra Time

The U.S. Women's National Soccer team defeated Canada, 4-3, in extra time in the semifinals on Monday at the 2012 London Olympics. The match was tied 3-3 after regulation.

Rochester, N.Y., native Abby Wambach helped send the match to extra time by converting on a penalty kick goal in the 80th minute. Wambach hit the crossbar with a header in the 119th minute in the second extra time period, which would have surely won the match if she had scored. However, the U.S. would still get a win without having to go to penalty kicks. Alex Morgan scored in stoppage time of the second extra time to win it for the U.S. with a header in the penalty area (122nd minute). New Jersey native Heather O'Reilly sent the cross into the area for Morgan.
