The New York Jets released RB Terrance Ganaway and QB Matt Simms on Friday evening as they move towards a 53-man roster. After announcing 14 cuts this afternoon, the Jets are now down to 59 players.
Ganaway, a rookie out of Baylor, holds one important distinction for the Jets:
The Jets waived the only player that scored a TD for them in the preseason: Terrance Ganaway.

Simms, the son of former Giants quarterback Phil Simms, was signed as an undrafted free agent back in May. He didn't play much during his senior year at Tennessee, throwing just 62 passes in a backup role.
The deadline for NFL rosters to be trimmed to 53 is Friday at 9 p.m. ET.
