Jets Vs. Eagles Final Score: New York Finally Scores Touchdown, Still Loses 28-10

The New York Jets wrapped up the 2012 preseason with a 28-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. After more than 200 minutes, the Jets were finally able to break across the goal line for their first touchdown of the preseason. Greg McElroy hit Terrance Ganaway in the second quarter for an early 7-0 Jets lead. McElroy looked steady early on, hitting five of six passes and moving well outside the pocket on the touchdown drive.

But that would be it for the Jets offense. Nick Folk bombed a 58-yard field goal just before the half but New York would fail to score again as the Eagles pulled away for the double-digit victory. Third-string quarterback Trent Edwards played a majority of the game for Andy Reid and he was 22-of-32 attempts for 197 yards in a relatively conservatively-called game. He did connect with Mardy Gilyard for a 31-yard touchdown in the second quarter and followed that up with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Brett Brackett at the start of the fourth.

It was definitely a came that was played cautiously with both coaches trying to avoid an injury in the final game of the preseason. Quinton Coples made some noise on the defensive side of the ball, notching 1.5 sacks and getting to the quarterback on two occasions.

The Jets now buckle down for the real thing. They'll trim the roster to 53 on Friday afternoon and will then host the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 9 for the opener.
