The New York Giants and safety Tyler Sash are hoping NFL commissioner Roger Goodell either lightens or lifts the four-game suspension handed down to the second-year player for the use of Adderall. The league considers Adderall a performance-enhancing drug.

Sash left training camp on Monday afternoon to head to the league offices. He is expected to make a case and explain to the commissioner that a doctor prescribed the medication in the offseason to help him deal with anxiety.

As Sash pointed out to reporters earlier in the week, Goodell did not have to meet with him and hopes he has a chance to at least clear his name. Players have occasionally had their suspension lifted or reduced, although that is normally not the case.

The first four games of the season for the Giants include a road trip to Jacksonville, a "road" game with the Jets, and then two home showdowns with the Bears and Patriots.
