Mets-Astros Final Score: New York Finally Wins, 3-1

Stay connected for news and updates

It's been awhile since the New York Mets could celebrate a victory, but they did exactly that after dispatching the Houston Astros 3-1 on Saturday at Citi Field.

R.A. Dickey won his 16th game for the Amazins', giving him continued hope for a 20-win season. The knuckleballer threw seven innings only allowing one run on five hits and a walk. Frank Francisco picked up the save, his 21st on the year.

Dickey also helped his own cause with the initial RBI on an infield single.

Fernando Abad took the loss for lowly Houston. The southpaw surrendered only a run on four walks and as many hits, dancing out of trouble throughout his appearance.

Only Andres Torres had a multi-hit day with a pair of singles. The lone extra-base hit for either team came on a home run authored by Justin Turner in the sixth inning.

On Sunday, the Mets will look to take the series with Jeremy Hefner on the mound.
