Yankees-Red Sox Final Score: Lester Stymies New York In 4-1 Loss

The New York Yankees fell to the Boston Red Sox 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Jon Lester was able to shut the Bronx Bombers down, pitching seven strong innings while allowing just one run on five hits and two walks.

David Phelps was good, but falls to 3-4 on the campaign after surrendering three runs in 6.2 frames. The 25-year-old gave up seven hits, but struck out as many batters and walked none.

The lone Yankees run came off of the hot bat of Curtis Granderson, who hit a solo home run in the 4th inning. Nick Swisher also had a terrific day, going 3-for-4 while holding down first base for the injured Mark Teixeira.

Pedro Ciriaco was the star of the show offensively for the Red Sox with a perfect 4-for-4 afternoon. Against New York, Ciriaco is hitting .517 lifetime.

Adrian Gonzalez hit the lone round-tripper for Boston in the first inning. It was a two-run blast, putting the Red Sox in the lead for good.

On Sunday, the Yankees will look for the series win with Hiroki Kuroda on the hill.
