2012 Brooklyn Nets Offseason News: Guard MarShon Brooks Wants To Win Sixth Man Of The Year Award

Generally when players talk about winning awards in the offseason, it's about taking home a Most Valuable Player trophy or the like. But Brooklyn Nets' guard MarShon Brooks has goals of his own - he wants to win the league's Sixth Man of the Year Award.

Brooks made the statement in an interview as posted by SB Nation blog, Nets Daily:

in a nearly 17 minute interview with SLAM's Aggrey Sam, MarShon Brooks talks about the lessons he learned last season, what he expects next season from himself and his team. He leaves no doubt of his personal goal, "Sixth man of the year, sixth man of the year," he repeated with a smile. "I'm not going to sell myself short."

The second-year guard had a solid season in his first NBA season last year, averaging just over 12 points, two rebounds, and three assists per contest. He'll have to improve on those numbers a bit to win the award, but with talented players around him to create opportunities to score, he could have a shot at it.
