New York Giants Sign Defensive Tackle Marcus Thomas

The New York Giants have signed free agent defensive tackle and ex-Bronco Marcus Thomas to a one year deal, as it was reported earlier Thursday. This signing allows the G Men to fill the void of Shaun Rogers' season-ending injury of suffering from a blood clot in his leg.

The gGiants waived Montclair State's Bobby Skinner to make room for Thomas on the roster. Skinner's signing had just been announced Thursday morning, and he practiced only one time.

Thomas had a somewhat breakout season with the Broncos last season with 45 tackles (29 solo) in just 12 games. But the 26-year-old didn't get the deal he was expecting from Denver after the season, so here he is with the defending Super Bowl champions, adding depth to the defensive line.

This is the fourth defensive tackle the Giants have signed in two days. Thomas has the reputation of being a run-stuffer.

Giants Roster Moves: Bobby Skinner (Montclair State) Signed, Clint Sintim Waived

The New York Giants made a bunch of roster moves Thursday, and one of their additions was Staten Island, NY native and Montclair State alum Bobby Skinner, a defensive tackle. Skinner along with Laron Scott, a cornerback/kicker returner, were signed by the Giants, while linebacker Clint Sintim and defensive end Justin Trattou were waived from the roster.

Skinner (6-foot-3, 298 pounds) was a New Dorp HS product who earned all-city and all-state mentions before attending Montclair State, a Division III program located minutes from MetLife Stadium. In 10 games last season he compiled 28 tackles (20 solo) and 6.5 sacks.

Scott averaged 30.6 yards per kick return last season at Georgia Southern.

Sintim, the Giants' 2009 second-round pick, was let go after a failed physical. Sintim, who suffered from many injury problems throughout the last few years, played in 24 games, made 11 tackles and one sack for the Giants.

Meanwhile, Trattou was suffering form heel and ankle injures and was unable to practice.

New York Giants Sign DTs Carlton Powell, Oren Wilson, Waive Martin Parker

The New York Giants announced several roster moves on Wednesday. The Giants signed defensive tackles Carlton Powell and Oren Wilson. The Giants also waived injured defensive tackle Martin Parker. Parker has a herniated disk in his back which will require surgery.

Powell (6-foot-3, 310) was a fifth-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2008. Powell spent his rookie season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Since that season, Powell has spent time on the practice squads for the Browns and Broncos and was in training camp with the Buccaneers (2010) and Jets (2011). Powell saw three games worth of action for the Falcons last season and made one assisted tackle.

Wilson (6-foot-1, 305) is an undrafted rookie out of Akron. Wilson transferred to Akron after originally playing for Michigan State.

The Giants needed to make the depth moves after Parker and Shaun Rogers (blood clot in leg) were ruled out for the season.
