College football games have yet to be played, but already sports media outlets are releasing their list of favorites to win the 2012 Heisman Trophy, presented in Decembr at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square.
The latest preseason list came from Sports Illustrated on Wednesday, which in its Aug. 15 issue listed Southern California's Matt Barkley (QB), West Virgina's Geno Smith (QB), Wisconsin's Montee Ball (RB), Oklahoma's Landry Jones (QB), South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore (WR), Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas (RB) and Michigan's Denard Robinson (QB) as favorites entering the season.
Meanwhile, other players getting Heisman pushes are: Florida State's E.J. Manuel (QB), Georgia's Aaron Murray (QB), Arkansas' Knile Davis (RB), Clemson's Tajh Boyd (QB) and West Virginia's Tavon Austin (AP).
Last season, Baylor's Robert Griffin III won the 77th annual Heisman Trophy Award. Griffin III went on to be the No. 2-overalll pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
