The United States women's basketball team won its fifth straight Olympic title with an 86-50 win over France on Saturday at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. While France was clearly overmatched, the squad is plenty proud to be taking home the silver, its first medal ever in the event.

The French were within three points, 24-21, with 7:26 left to play in the first half. The United States outscored them 13-4 until halftime, however, and continued to cruise from there. Candace Parker led all players with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Sue Bird scored 11 and Dina Taurasi added nine with six assists.

The French were led by Edwige Lawson Wade and Sandrine Gruda, who scored 12 points apiece.

The win extended United States' winning streak in the event to 41 games.
