The New York Yankees travel across the border this weekend for a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The first game of that series is Friday night at Toronto's Rogers Centre (7:07 p.m. ET, YES) with Freddy Garcia (5-5, 5.00 ERA) pitching for New York against Ricky Romero of Toronto (8-8, 5.47 ERA).
The Yankees (65-46) lead the American League by 5.5 games over the Baltimore Orioles. New York, though, has gone just 8-12 in its last 20 games, watching its leads shrink from a full 10 games.
"We've got 162 games, and we know it's only August," center fielder Curtis Granderson said before the club's 4-3 victory over the Tigers on Thursday afternoon. "A lot of games to play, a lot of games in our own division to play, and I think everybody's just very realistic of knowing that the season doesn't end today."
The Blue Jays are 53-58, last in the AL East.
