Derek Fisher could be headed to the Brooklyn Nets next season. Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

With Jason Kidd set to sign with the New York Knicks, the Brooklyn Nets have moved on and are interested in signing veteran point guard Derek Fisher, according to a report from The Star-Ledger. The article is based off of a New York Times story from Howard Beck, who had this small blurb on Fisher when the news of Kidd to the Knicks broke:

"The Nets are now among the front-runners to sign Fisher, along with the Mavericks, the Chicago Bulls, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.''

Fisher, 37, is a 16-year veteran who would provide some much-needed depth for the Nets, and would give head coach Avery Johnson a veteran presence off the bench much like the way he was used as the backup to Russell Westbrook at Oklahoma City last year.
