2012 London Olympics, Judo Results: Nick Delpopolo Best U.S. Finisher In 73 Kilogram Division

Nick Delpopolo's aspirations of winning a medal at the 2012 London Olympics games came to an end Monday, as the Westfield, N.J., native lost in the repechage bracket of judo's 73 kilogram tournament. Despite the lack of hardware, Delpopolo was the best finisher for the USA Team, as he won his first two matches before losing in the quarterfinals.

Delpopolo was eliminated after losing to South Korea's Wang Ki-Chun, the No. 1 seed in the competition, and then Mongolia's Nyam-Ochir Sainjargal in the repechage bracket (of which the winner advances to a bronze medal match against a semifinal loser).

According to Delopoplo's coach Jimmy Petro, Delpopolo had a "great Olympic performance." After the tournament, Delpopolo said he would try and return for the 2016 Olympics Games in Rio.
