2012 Knicks Offseason: Mike D'Antoni Really Wanted Steve Nash In New York ... Badly

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni is in London with Team USA this summer, but that doesn't mean he's not still answering questions about the Knicks. D'Antoni told reporters that he would've walked to Phoenix to get Steve Nash last season (if he could have).

It seems like that would've been a wasted trip, considering Nash's desire to stay close to his children in Arizona (which partially led to the sign-and-trade deal with the Lakers this summer). There was speculation (before Linsanity) that bringing Nash to New York along with Amar'e Stoudemire could revitalize the franchise under D'Antoni's system.

The Knicks haven't been so fortunate in their point guard pursuit, missing out on Jeremy Lin when he signed with the Rockets this month, but landing Raymond Felton and Jason Kidd.
