2012 British Open: Ernie Els Wins While Adam Scott Collapses

The 2012 British Open was an instant classic that most folks wouldn't mind watching the highlights of for years to come. Except Adam Scott.

Ernie Els found a way to take home the hardware from Royal Lytham's and St. Anne's after playing great all weekend. Els navigated the challenges better than the rest, winning with a score of 7-under for the tournament. However, it was Australian Scott who lost a massive lead on the back nine.

Scott bogeyed his final four holes, including the 18th on a very hittable putt that sealed his fate.

Nobody else was close by days end, with Tiger Woods not being much of a factor. Woods made par on his first five holes before shooting a triple bogey on the sixth thanks to a notorious English bunker.

St. John's alum Keegan Bradley finished his weekend with a 73 on Sunday. The Vermont native wound up tied for 34th place when all was set and done.
