A near-capacity crowd gathered at Yankee Stadium to watch Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea play to a 1-1 tie Sunday night as part of the 2012 World Football Challenge. Nene scored in the 31st minute, giving PSG a 1-0 lead that would last all the way until the 82nd minute, when Lucas Piazon broke loose in front of the goal and scored the equalizer to the bottom left corner of the net.
Chelsea possessed the ball 56 percent of the time, but both teams had a roughly equal number of scoring chances. PSG put the ball on goal five times, compared to three times for the Premier League club.
Guillaume Hoarau nearly gave PSG the lead late, but he couldn't finish off a Javier Pastore miss in the 88th minute. Pastore also did a brilliant job setting up Nene for the first goal of the match. He skirted through three or four defenders to earn an open shot on goal, and Nene happened to be nearby to clean up the ricochet.
International soccer returns to Yankee Stadium on Aug. 8, when Real Madrid takes on AC Milan at 8 p.m. ET.

The 2012 World Football Challenge got underway on July 18 with MLS' Seattle Sounders hosting European champions Chelsea. Chelsea won that match, 4-2, and will play their next match in the competition at Yankee Stadium on July 22.
Chelsea will face Ligue 1 runners-up Paris Saint-Germain in the third match of the World Football Challenge on Sunday. While PSG recently signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he will not be with the club for the match. However, defender Thiago Silva will be available. Two of Chelsea's signings, Marko Marin and Eden Hazard have already scored in the World Football Challenge. Both clubs could put out strong lineups on match day and provide plenty of fireworks for the Yankee Stadium crowd in the first match played at the venue. Historic seasons await both clubs as Chelsea looks to become the first team to win back-to-back European championship titles since AC Milan (1989-1990) while PSG will try to claim its first European title.
Both teams have released the rosters they will have available for the match.
