Hiroki Kuroda will be on the mound Monday for the New York Yankees when they open a series against the Cleveland Indians. Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE
Fresh off taking two of three from the New York Mets at Citi Field in the most recent Subway Series the New York Yankees return to Yankee Stadium, and to American League action, Monday night. The Yankees open a seven-game homestand Monday with the first of three games against the Cleveland Indians.
The Yankees (43-28) lead the American League East by 2.5 games over the Baltimore Orioles. The Indians (37-34) are in second place in the AL Central, only a half-game behind the Chicago White Sox.
Hiroki Kuroda (6-7, 3.57 ERA) pitches Monday for the Yankees. Kuroda, in his first season in the American League after four seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has never pitched against Cleveland. The Indians will start Josh Tomlin (3-4, 5.12 ERA). Tomlin's first career victory came against the Yankees during the 2010 season.
Here are the probable pitchers for the rest of the series:
- Tuesday: Phil Hughes, Yankees (7-6, 4.94 ERA) vs. Justin Masterson (4-6, 3.98 ERA)
- Wednesday: Andy Pettitte, Yankees (3-3, 3.29 ERA) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (7-5, 4.59 ERA)
