The Stony Brook Seawolves have been here before, with their backs against the wall. On Sunday, Stony Brook will play another elimination game, their sixth since the NCAA baseball tournament began, with the goal of extending their run through the 2012 College World Series.
There to meet the Seawolves is Florida State, playing in their first elimination game of the tournament. Florida State lost by a final score of 4-3 in 12 innings against Arizona.
Sophomore Brandon McNitt (8-3, 2.50 ERA) starts for Stony Brook. McNitt shut out LSU and allowed only three hits in his last outing. The Seminoles turn to freshman Mike Compton (11-2, 2.86).
A win would put the Seawolves two games away from the championship finals. The winner will face either Arizona or UCLA, which beat the Seawolves on Friday, in a game scheduled for Tuesday.
Sunday's game starts at 5 p.m. Eastern. It will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
