Stony Brook Seawolves Advance To College World Series: Reaction To Baton Rouge Regional Upset

What the Stony Brook Seawolves were able to against the No. 7 LSU Tigers in the Baton Rouge Super Regional was obviously special. The Seawolves defeated the Tigers in the best of three-games series to send Stony Brook to the College World Series for the first time in the school's history.

This is what the Seawolves' leading hitter at .422 Travis Jankowski had to say about his team's run toward national supremacy:

"Our motto is: 'Shock the world and win the last game of the season,'" said the center fielder and the 44th overall selection in last week's Major League Baseball amateur draft, who also went 4-for-6 and scored twice in Stony Brook's decisive Game 3 victory. "So as long as we do that, we should be all right from here on out."

LSU coach Paul Mainieri said Stony Brook outplayed them in every phase of the game, and went further by suggesting the Seawolves can play with anybody.

That's a lot of respect this team has gained in such a short period of time.
