2012 Kentucky Derby Triple Crown Results: 'I'll Have Another' Wins 138th Kentucky Derby

Stay connected for news and updates

The winner of the 138th Kentucky Derby is ... I'll Have Another.

I'll Have Another was ridden by Mario Gutierrez – who was riding in his first ever Kentucky Derby – trained by Doug O'Neil, and owned by J. Paul Reddam.

Bodemeister – who was the favorite for the majority week – flew out of the gates and led for most of the race. I'll Have Another made his move from the middle of the pack during the final stretch, overtaking Bodemesiter with approximately 100 yards remaining.

Today's win marks the first time in Derby history that the horse in the 19th pole position has won. I'll Have Another began the day with 12/1 odds.
