Here is some of the immediate reaction to the selection of Virginia Tech running back David Wilson by the New York Giants with the final pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Giants general manager Jerry Reese:
"Terrific football player," Reese said. "This guy loves to play football. He is fast, he is productive, he can do anything you want him to do. he can catch the ball and return kicks. He is a good piece to put in our running back stable."
Reese, however, did apparently admit to reporters that Doug Martin of Boise State, taken one pick earlier by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was higher on the Giants’ board than Wilson.
SB Nation’s Mocking The Draft says Wilson is “a speedy back, but much stronger than he’s often given credit. He’s not a direct style replacement for Brandon Jacobs, but will be a factor for the G-Men.”
