With the 15th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks have selected West Virginia defensive end/linebacker Bruce Irvin. Originally tabbed as a borderline first-round pick, Irvin is the first "reach" of the draft so far.
Irvin came to Morgantown as a junior college prospect and immediately produced for the Mountaineers, totaling 22.5 sacks in his two season at WVU. Irvin is one of the best pass rushers in this year's draft and can play in both a 4-3 and a 3-4 defensive scheme, although he's probably better suited as a pass-rushing outside linebacker.
There are slight concerns of Irvin in pass coverage, but that should ease with time as he adjusts to his new position.
Seattle's next pick comes in the second round at No. 43 overall.
Both teams have been linked to pass rushers in this draft, though it's unknown where Irvin fell on their boards.
