2012 NFL Draft: Miami Dolphins Take Ryan Tannehill With Eighth Selection

The eighth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, belonging to the Miami Dolphins, was widely considered to be a tipping point in the draft. The Dolphins used the pick to do what many thought they would do, take Ryan Tannehill of Texas A&M to be their quarterback of the future.

If Tannehill can be the quarterback the Dolphins need this could make life in the AFC East more difficult for the New York Jets. On the other hand, with three quarterbacks taken in the first eight picks that means a player the Jets covet could more easily fall to them at No. 16 -- if the Jets don't trade up.
