With the sixth pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected Louisiana State cornerback Morris Claiborne. Dallas traded up to grab Claiborne, surrendering the 14th overall pick, in addition to further compensation.
Claiborne was the Jim Thorpe Award winner and a first-team All-American in 2011. He is expected to have the size, instincts, knowledge and talent to quickly become a starter for the Cowboys, who already have Mike Jenkins and the recently-signed Brandon Carr.

Impact on Giants:
The much maligned Cowboys secondary gets dramatically stronger with Claiborne, shoring up their coverage plans for Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz and any wide receivers the Giants add later in this draft.
