The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim meet for three games beginning Friday at Yankee Stadium.
Seven games into the 2012 MLB season the New York Yankees finally play their home opener on Friday when they host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (1:05 p.m. ET). The game will be televised on YES and broadcast on WCBS (880 AM) and across the Yankees radio network.
Adding to the pomp and circumstance of the home opener, Yankee great Jorge Posada, who retired following the 2011 season, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The temperature is expected to be in the low 60s when Hiroki Kuroda, acquired as a free agent in the offseason, throws the first real Yankee Stadium pitch of the season around 1:05 p.m. Kuroda has admitted to being "worried" about his first-ever appearance at the stadium.
The Yankees are 3-3 on the young season. They were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays to start the season, then swept three game from the Baltimore Orioles to reach the .500 mark.
