NCAA Hockey Tournament 2012: Union Vs. UMass-Lowell, 1st Period Score: Dutchmen Lead Riverhawks, 1-0

The Union Dutchmen lead the UMass-Lowell River Hawks, 1-0, after one period of action in the two team's first round match-up in the 2012 NCAA Hockey Tournament.

Union nearly surrendered an early lead, but after review, was determined not to be a goal, as a Dutchmen defensemen scooped it up just before crossing the line. Moments later, Daniel Ciampini of scored, giving the Dutchmen a one to nothing lead.

The Dutchmen have out-shot the River Hawks, 17 to six, in the first period. Defenseman, Chad Ruhwedel, leads both teams in shots attempts; He has three.

Union has completely controlled the game, but only has a one-goal lead to show for it.
