After receiving a surprising at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament Sunday, the Iona Gaels men's basketball program gets a shot at proving itself Tuesday when it faces the BYU Cougars in a first-four contest in Dayton, OH (6:40 p.m. ET on truTV).
This will be the Gaels eighth NCAA Tournament game in program history, however, they've never won an opening-round contest. If Iona does win it will advance to the round of 64, where it will face the No. 3-seeded Marquette Golden Eagles on Friday.
On Sunday, the Gaels (25-7) received a rare at-large tournament berth after they lost in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament earlier last week. Iona's invite knocked out a few programs from bigger conferences, however, that doesn't mean that the Gaels didn't deserve the bid.
Here's the game time and TV information for Tuesday's contest:
Game date/time: Tuesday, March 13, 6:40 p.m. ET
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Announcers: Jim Nantz (play-by-play), Clark Kellogg (color commentary) and Steve Kerr (reporting).
