2012 NFL Combine Workout Results: Rutgers' Desmond Wynn Has Solid Performance

Workouts finally began at the 2012 NFL Draft Combine Saturday, and Desmond Wynn, a Rutgers football offensive line prospect, posted some solid numbers in Indianapolis that should help his stock for the 2012 NFL Draft, April 26-28.

Wynn, officially measured at 6-foot-6, 303 pounds earlier in the week, ran the 40-yard dash in 5.05 seconds, the fourth-best overall time for a offensive linemen. Oklahoma's Donald Stephenson (4.94 seconds), USC's Matt Kalil (4.99) and Iowa's Adam Gettis (5.00) were the only prospect to run faster times.

Wynn was also one of the top performers in the vertical jump, as he finished second overall with 32.5 inches. Stephenson was first overall at 35.5 inches.

In the bench press, Wynn did 28 reps, which didn't crack the top-15 performances but is a number equal to former top-three offensive linemen draft selections selections, Joe Thomas (2007) and Jake Long ('08).

Those numbers should prove to be good enough to move up his NFL Draft position, which is currently projected as a fifth- or sixth-rounder by NFLDraftScout.com.

Meanwhile, Nick Provo (6-3, 237), a tight end prospect from Syracuse, did not participate in any drills Saturday, as he's still recovering from shoulder surgery. Provo, who arrived in Indy Wednesday, did go through all medical examinations and team interviews Thursday, and is expected to participate in the Orange's Pro Day, March 8.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Provo is a projected sixth- or seventh-round pick.

Provo's former teammate, offensive lineman Andrew Tiller (6-4, 303), had a rough day, as he didn't put up very favorable numbers in either the 40-yard dash (5.50 seconds), bench press (16 reps), vertical jump (23 inches), broad jump (85 inches), three-cone drill (7.92 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (4.80 seconds). Tiller, who's not expected to be drafted, will also participate in Syracuse's Pro Day.
