Rangers Trade Rumors 2012: Rick Nash's Price Tag Is Hefty

The New York Rangers and a handful of teams interested in Columbus Blue Jackets' forward Rick Nash learned of the hefty asking price for the coveted goal scorer on Saturday. According to NBC Sports' ProHockeyTalk.com, a king's ransom is basically the asking value.

According to CBC’s The Hot Stove, Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson is seeking two prospects, a player that can make an immediate impact, and a first round draft pick for Rick Nash.

However, Ryan Dadoun of ProHockeyTalk.com says, usually the asking price is always a bit higher than what a deal actually becomes.

(Columbus GM Scott) Howson might be willing to settle for less, especially if the market for Nash isn’t as big as he might have hoped. Then again, Howson might be comfortable with holding onto Nash until at least the summer even if he is reportedly unhappy. We’ll know one way or the other soon enough.

Meanwhile, in the Rangers locker room forward Brandon Dubinsky, who would more than likely be a piece in a deal for Nash because of salary cap reasons, is ignoring the trade rumors.

"The management is going to do whatever they feel they need to do in order to bring a Cup here or bring playoff success here. It's ultimately going to be their decision," Dubinsky told ESPNNewYork.com. "Us as players, we're not going to influence that other than the way we play. You can't let it creep into the locker room. If something happens, that's part of the business."
