J.R. Smith Free Agency Rumors: Guard Confirms He Is Near A Deal With Knicks

Free agent J.R. Smith has confirmed that he is working on a deal that would send him to the New York Knicks.

Earlier today it was reported that the Knicks and Smith were closing in on a deal. Smith had been in China during the NBA lockout playing for a team in the Chinese Basketball Association. He had to wait on Feb. 15 after the Chinese season was over to sign in the NBA.

Smith had spent the last five NBA seasons with the Nuggets. Last season he averaged 12.3 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game. Smith shoots 37.1% from behind the arc for his career.
