R.A. Dickey trade rumors: 'Six or seven' teams interested

R.A. Dickey - Alex Trautwig

The Baseball Winter Meetings start Monday, and the New York Mets will be busy fielding offers from teams for Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey.

CBS Sports reports that "the Mets have fielded calls from six or seven teams that want to meet to discuss a trade" for the 38-year-old knuckleballer. The Mets are trying to decide whether to re-sign Dickey to a multi-year contract or trade him for a batch of prospects.

What teams might be calling about Dickey? The Kansas City Royals have been reported to have interest. CBS Sports also speculates that the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, Anaheim Angels, Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals could all have interest.

CBS says the Mets will be looking for a catcher and outfield help in any trade.

The Dickey situation will certainly make Mets' general manager Sandy Alderson a popular guy once the meetings begin in Nashville.
