Hello Brooklyn! These are definitely not the New Jersey Nets

The Nets have won five straight. Sunday's victory over Sacramento came in a game where the Nets really did not play well, another sign that this is a new world for Brooklyn.

Hello Brooklyn, indeed! The Brooklyn Nets have now won five straight games and, at 6-2, are above .500 thru eight games for the first time since the 2006-07 season, when they were 5-3.

The Brooklyn Game summarized the new Nets this way:

This is a new world for the new Nets. one where they can afford to make their fair share of mistakes, get bad games from their key players, sit on the receiving end of a few bad bounces, muster just 47 points from their starters, and still find some way to win a game without trailing for the final 33:36. Yes, the Sacramento Kings aren't a good team, but the New Jersey Nets weren't out of their league not long ago. Now, they are. It's a weird feeling to embrace, but it's tangible and real and part of their fabric all the same. This is a team the Brooklyn Nets can -- and did -- defeat in spite of themselves. That's odd and confusing and wonderful, all at the same time. We're not in Newark anymore.

Here is more reaction to the Nets' fifth straight victory.

On a night when the Nets’ stars couldn’t buy a bucket, it was their bench that carried them home.

Reserves Andray Blatche, MarShon Brooks and C.J. Watson combined to score 49 points off the bench, lifting the Nets to a 99-90 victory over the Kings last night.

"That’s what makes this team special," Joe Johnson said. "You’ve got guys like myself, Deron [Williams], Brook [Lopez], we can have great games, but we have guys on the bench who’ve started and played big minutes in this league and are good players in this league, so they’re able to be productive for us and even win a game for us."
