Knicks-Spurs preview: San Antonio to test unbeaten New York

Tim Duncan - Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE

The New York Knicks (5-0) are the only remaining unbeaten team in the NBA. There are, however, plenty of skeptics unwilling to concede that Carmelo Anthony and his mostly geriatric teammates could be among the league's elite teams. The Knicks get another chance to show that they are for real Thursday night when they continue a three-game road trip against the San Antonio Spurs (8:30 p.m. ET, MSG) -- a team no one doubts is elite.

The Knicks have not won in San Antonio since March 18, 2003 -- a span that includes nine games. During that time the Spurs have won two NBA titles and made two trips to the Western Conference Finals, including one last season. San Antonio is off to another spectacular start at 7-1, meaning a victory would definitely be an accomplishment for the Knicks.

Tim Duncan is averaging 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for San Antonio, and Tony Parker scores 13.6 points and dishes out 7.6 assists per game.
