Rutgers hosts Sacred Heart Monday looking for a rebound victory after losing the season opener to St. Peter's on Friday.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball program will try Monday to earn its first victory of the 2012-13 season, as the Sacred Heart Pioneers visit the RAC for a non-conference showdown (7:30 p.m.).

Rutgers (0-1) will be looking to rebound from its disappointing season-opening loss, 56-52, to the St. Peter's Peacocks on Friday. The loss featured the Scarlet Knights shooting just 35.8-percent from the field and committing 18 turnovers.

Redshirt junior Wally Judge collected a double-double (11 points and 12 rebounds) in the losing effort, which ended with Rutgers out-rebounding St. Peter's, 43-22.

Sacred Heart is coming off a thrilling 85-82 victory over Yale. Behind redshirt senior guard Shane Gibson's 29 points, the Pioneers (1-0) overcame a 24-point second half deficit to down the Bulldogs.

The Northeast Conference program was picked to finish sixth out of 12 teams in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Gibson was a Preseason All-NEC selection.

On Friday, Rutgers hosts the Princeton Tigers starting at 7 p.m.
