The Mets send Jeremy Hefner to the mound looking to salvage the final game in a three-game set with the Marlins and close out the season on a high note.
After failing to get R.A. Dickey his 21st victory of the season, the New York Mets will look to salvage the final game of a three-game set with the Miami Marlins in their 2012 season finale on Wednesday.
The Mets stormed back to tie Tuesday night's game at 3-3 after Dickey was out-dueled by Marlins starter Jacob Turner, but were eventually outlasted in 11 innings after Jose Reyes was batted home after hitting a leadoff triple.
Jeremy Hefner will head to the mound for the Mets, who will look to end the season with 74 wins. Miami will counter with Tom Koehler, who is 0-0 on the season with a 5.40 ERA in his seven appearances since being called up in September.
Miami will be aiming to close its season with a series sweep over the Mets, and a 70-win season in its first year as the Miami Marlins instead of the Florida Marlins.
