R.A. Dickey looks to improve his Cy Young candidacy as the New York Mets face off with the Miami Marlins Tuesday
Dickey (20-6, 2.69), who sits one win behind the Washington National's Gio Gonzalez for most in the MLB, needs a dominant start Tuesday to increase his candidacy in a tight Cy Young race. He has pitched at least seven innings in his last four starts while not allowing more three runs in his last eight starts.
Jacob Turner (1-4, 3.86) gets the start for the Marlins. Turner is only two starts removed from a two-hit, seven scoreless inning effort against the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 14. The 21-year-old right hander has lasted at least five innings in his last seven starts and has not allowed more than three runs since late August.
The Mets' disappointing 2012 season is only two games from completion. Their record currently stands at 73-83, 23 games behind the Washington Nationals in the NL East.
